Are todays jobs viable for ministry?

Are job contracts long enough for language and culture learning? The initial contracts are usually for one to three years and can often be renewed. Even though the job can probably be done in English, tentmakers need to get to work on the language for their own cultural adjustment, to gain the confidence of the people and to sensitively share the Gospel. They are usually far more immersed in the language and culture than the regular missionary. Employers often provide language instruction for the family.
