Are thinkpad power cords interchangeable with adapters?
Thinkpad adapters use two different connectors depending on whether the adapter is grounded or not. Grounded adapters use a 3 pin ‘Mickey Mouse’ (look at it end on, with the ground pin at the bottom) connector. Ungrounded adapters use a standard 2 pin connector. These are industry standard connectors and you could use any appropriate power cord. However, these can vary in quality and I would recommend contacting Lenovo and getting a replacement cord from them of known good quality. Check the prices at your local electronics store first and see if the price of the Lenovo cord is worth it to you.
