The part near Maverick has already ben redeveloped. Some of the remaining old piers have likewise been designated for a future park, to be built by the Port Authority. East Boston used to be more of a ghetto (Italian) than it is today; a lot of Central Americans, Portuguese and Vietnamese now give it a broader cosmopolitaness (to say nothing of gret storefront restaurants!!
