Ipods and PSP’s are perfectly fine, the flight attendants will let you know when it’s okay to turn them on (will be 10-15 minutes after takeoff) and when you need to turn them off for landing. You can bring your own food through security and onto the plane, but it must be wrapped and for immediate consumption (like a bag of chips or a sandwich, nothing like soup or something that has to be heated up). However, due to the 3-1-1 liquid carry-on rule with all carry-on liquids having to be 3.4 oz. or less, drinks won’t make it through security (unless they are really small drinks that are in the 1-quart zip-top bag–not very good for quenching thirst I would think). You will be asked to either empty the container with the drink, or throw it away altogether. You can refill the container once through security in the gate area, or purchase drinks to take on the plane from there.
