Are these CMS tools also used for corporate eLearning content management and courseware development?
This was selected as Best Answer Drupal and Joomla each have “E-Learning Solutions” and can be (sort-of) used for LMS purposes but they are quite weak. Either one requires the addition of separate packages (often pricey) to implement the eLearning features. Packages that honestly are just lacking way too many features (in my opinion) to seriously consider as a corporate LMS. Now, Moodle is a super LMS, similar in features and quality to Blackboard and other massivly expensive programs. There are several large universities around the world who use Moodle as their primary LMS and many others who have implemented it as a choice for their instructors – as an alternative to the Blackboard courses. Moodle even includes some features and abilities that BB doesn’t. And it is much more secure and intrusion safe than Joomla.
