Are there versions of MAME for Amiga, Unix, etc.?
Yes, there are many “ports” of MAME to other platforms, including Mac, Linux, and Amiga. (See the official MAME site’s Other Ports page, for a complete list.) Someone has said there is even a Nintendo 64 version – although it is very hard to obtain (and illegal, because the ROM files are merged with the program). Reportedly MAME has been ported to the PlayStation 2 and Xbox consoles, but these ports are not and will not be available because of development system restrictions. Asking about them is futile. There are some legal ports of MAME to the Dreamcast, however. The new Mac and PC versions are often released simultaneously – the others often take longer to catch up. If you are on one of these other platforms, expect a good delay between releases.
