Are There Variations in Venture Capital Funded Men- and Women-Owned Businesses by Industrial Sector?
In order to examine differences in gender by industrial sector, we examined the frequency distribution and conducted t-tests on those firms for which gender is established. As Table 2 shows, no investments were made in either agriculture or mining sectors. Additionally, no investments were made in women-owned firms in shown in women led construction, public administration, or finance, insurance, real estate (FIRE) sectors. As expected, women owned businesses were more often found in the service sector and male owned businesses were more often found in the manufacturing sector. The structure of the frequency distribution is supported by the results of the t-tests reported in Table 3 and show significant differences between the genders in three industrial sectors.
