Are there tryouts for Penn State Mock Trial?
Although most institutions conduct tryouts for mock trial, Penn State is unusual in that it does not. Instead, any interested student is welcome to join. Penn State Mock Trial conducts two intramural tournaments, one during each semester of the school year, in which anyone can participate. In order to gain more experience, Penn State sends numerous teams each year to compete at invitational tournaments at other universities. At the end of the fall, based on performance during the fall tournament and invitationals, the president and two vice presidents select 24 students–three teams of eight–to represent Penn State in the national AMTA competition.
