Are there toxic chemical warfare agents/nerve gas in the dumps or mineshafts?
There is no evidence to suggest that chemical warfare agents were left or dumped on site. Indeed records indicate that all CW agents were removed from the site and/or destroyed either on or off site. The comprehensive programme of intrusive sampling that has taken place to date has confirmed the absense of CW agents. Some minute traces of CW breakdown product have been discovered, but at such diluted concentrates (parts per million) are considered to be only a very low hazard.
