The odds of finding new creatures unknown to science is getting smaller as we explore more and more of the Earth. Every year we are finding a few more creatures, a new primate, a few new fish, there are more things to find out there in the world. But no way you hide a sustaining population of something as big as a mammoth. A mammoth was a large creature that needed to move constantly to stay in food. They lived on the open plains of the arctic. Today’s elephants are easily spotted from the air and leave plentiful evidence of their large diets behind as they graze their way across the landscape. The arctic areas are crisscrossed daily by light aircraft, often flying low as this is the way everyone and everything moves up there where there are no roads. No doubt a mammoth could thrive on the tundra plains and arctic
