Are there techniques for being a good listener?
Yes, People who learn – listen, understand and demonstrate. Learning to listen involves focusing on not only whats being said, but in the manner it’s being delivered. Many people find that reading a book while listening to the audio tape at the same time helps them to absorb more information. Another example of this is using smelling salts as a revision aid – some people swear that by smelling a certain fragrance while studying makes the exams much easier to pass if they smell the fragrance during the exam. This is widely thought to be due to the fact that a person is using 2 stimuli while learning the information. This principle being true – to be a good listener you must also be a good watcher and interpreter of body language.
