Maryland’s employers are authorized to take tax credits for hiring workers with disabilities through the Maryland Disability Employment Tax Credit (MDETC). The MDETC may be claimed concurrently with any available federal tax credit for which the employee may be eligible. During the first year, employers are eligible for a credit in an amount to 30% of up to the first $6,000 ($1,800) of wages paid during the first year and 20% ($1,200) of wages paid during the second year of employment.
