I’ve had braces and in the back of my mouth the brace broke and my teeth ended up being crooked, so I had to go for another year of braces. The only reason they would put it in the back of your mouth (my sister had this) is if your teeth are being pushed forward causing your front teeth to be stacked. Putting them in the back would move your teeth backwards so your teeth are less stacked in the front, but after-wards you would have to get a full set to align your front teeth. Why don’t you want braces? They are made these days so they are hardly noticeable. I don’t know about InVisalign (because it is like a retainer that they give you after brace only before hand) and how well plastic will work to align you teeth. I had the same thought as you, about it looking crowded, and I figured if I got light rubber band colors on my braces (or even they even make them in clear) that my mouth won’t looked crowded, and it didn’t.
