Are there storm water drainage systems in place?
Yes. Our storm water system is a gravity system. Storm water is collected through surface drains feeding the gravity collection piping system, to a storm water storage tank, and then to a lift station which discharges to the ocean. Both the storm water and sewage systems are gravity systems, which, from a construction standpoint, makes it more disruptive when you build them, because of the deeper excavations. How have land reclamation issues been addressed? Dredging was required to reclaim areas, open new channels, as well as deepen existing channels. The material from the dredging was used to form the topography for the links golf course. Hydrodynamic modeling (simulation) was undertaken to ensure no significant changes to the hydraulic regime surrounding Yas Island will take place as a result of opening and widening of channels.
