Yes, specified editions become effective for examinations from June 2005 onwards. They are listed in the following places: 1900 English specification – page 63; 1901 English Literature specification – page 62-63; • Centres are allowed to use editions other than those specified (if, for instance, they already have a supply of a different edition). In this case, the Centre should send a letter to the Subject Officer indicating which edition is being used, and why. • They would also be well advised to brief their candidates that passages on the question paper may differ from that in their text (i.e. spelling and chapter references, etc). • To avoid confusion where candidates are using different editions, we will not be using page references for passages or quotations in the question paper.
