The communication protocols are TCP/IP and HTTP, so the standard protocols for todays Intranet/Internet world. If there are special security requirements the Fids3 network can be isolated, but this is just a technical detail and influences not the functionality of the Fids3 system itself. Also the choice of network topology with its components (switches, hubs, WLAN, etc.) is just a technical decision relevant under reliable/performance aspects but not for the Fids3 communication itself.
