Are there songs on Ruination you’d play for someone who hasn’t heard the band?
JD: “Regurgitated Information”. It’s a super-headbanging song. Almost any metal fan can get into that one. JD: As far as technicality and brutality are concerned I’d play them “Unfurling the Darkened Gospel”. Those are my two favorite tracks on the album. When I first heard “Unfurling…” on MySpace there were parts in there that reminded me of old Morgoth. JD: Totally. We all listen to different things together. While we were writing this record we tried to listen to as much as possible from stuff that’s recent to things that are 15-20 years old. There are bits and pieces all over the record from stuff we were listening to. I wouldn’t say those are obvious influences though. We all listened to Gorguts’ From Wisdom to Hate a lot while writing the record. But I don’t think the record sounds like Gorguts. We all loved the last Disfear record, too.
