Are there situations where coaching may not be successfully applied?
If any of the pre-requisites mentioned above are missing, coaching will not be successful. Generally, if an executive is faced with a situation over which he has absolutely no control, then confining the coaching domain to the individual himself may not yield significant results to the company. To be effective, the overall situation in the larger environment will need to be addressed. Coaching is also not suitable in situations that require intervention by trained specialists in such fields as psychology and therapy.
