Are there side effects when taking concentrated aloe vera?
Concentrated aloe vera with the anthraquinones removed (like our Desert Harvest products) have no negative side effects, unless you happen to be allergic to aloe vera. In that case, you would probably notice immediate hives, trouble breathing, swelling of the mouth and/or tongue, profuse diarrhea, and/or vomiting. Less than 1% of the general population can be allergic to aloe vera, just like any plant. We do notice that many people with allergies are actually helped by aloe vera, so the 1% is probably much less, but the possibility is there.
