Are there safety limits for the electromagnetic radiation exposure levels in the area of radio frequencies?
International scientific organisations, such as the International Commission on Non Ionized Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) and the World Health Organisation (WHO), have issued strict guidelines for the protection of public health from the exposure to electromagnetic radiation (ICNIRP Guidelines, Health Physics, April 1998, Vol 74), by evaluating the related scientific study. The European Union (EU) has adopted the specific guidelines and presents them in a recommendation issued on the 12th of July 1999. In Egypt, the National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (NTRA) and the National Telecommunication Institute (NTI) have developed Protocols that requires cellular companies to comply with the standard safety radiation limits for continuous exposure approved by the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers) and the ANSI (American National Standards Institute). The NTRA mandated a more restrictive protocol than the ANSI standards and set the public exposure limits for RF
