Are there rewards for good behavior?
My preferred approach is to emphasize intrinsic motivation and we discuss this in our character development lessons. However, I also have some individual and group rewards in place. Individuals who do not turn any cards on a given day earn a star for that day and when they have a total of twenty stars they may choose from a collection of reward tickets. The students help me select these rewards each year and they may include privileges like: ***eat lunch with a friend ***skip a day’s homework ***eat a snack in class ***help teach a lesson ***15 minute’s free time ***choose a paperback book ***do an activity with Mrs. A. at recess ***turn back a card *** and more! The whole class also earns a special activity when the class total on the EXCELLENT LIST is 1,000 checks. These activities might include things like reading a story, performing a play, watching a video, doing an art project, cooking/tasting foods, having a guest speaker, playing a game, etc. These special activities are usuall
