Are there restrictions that would deem a player ineligible for the annuity prize?

Yes, there are a few restrictions that would require the Top Prize winner to take the cash option, as opposed to the 25-year annuity. These include: the holder of the winning ticket resides outside Canada at the time the claim is made; or the holder of the winning ticket is other than one individual; or ILC foresees present or future difficulties in processing the annual annuity; or if the winner fails to select one of the payment options, or fails to provide the necessary information requested to process the annuity payments. If the winner of the Top Prize is not eligible for the annuity, they would receive the lump-sum payment of $17 Million.
