Are there requirements to meet in order to be connected to CEN?
The local area networks in the buildings must include wiring to a majority of the learning spaces in the buildings. In the case of multi-building school districts, a majority of the schools must be interconnected at T1 bandwidth or above. Locations that already have conduits from their network demarcation points to the public right of way that are available for installation of fiber optic cable will receive some priority in site selection. Local authorities are strongly encouraged to consider the construction requirements of this type of conduit as they conduct other renovation and construction projects. Those school locations, Town Halls, or Board of Education locations that are likely to be the hub point for the CEN within a district would be well served to install this critical infrastructure component in advance of connection to the CEN.
