Are there requirements to become a volunteer tax preparer?
Yes, all volunteers must attend training in January, and all tax preparers must pass the IRS certification test (either online or at a Proctored Certification Session). New volunteers MUST certify in person- exam proctors will be available during the all in-person certification sessions to answer questions. Please Note: We strongly recommend that volunteers take the IRS certification exam within one week of completing training. Savings Promoter volunteers will need to attend a separate training session in January.
