Given the present levels of contamination, it is safe to drink the municipal water. The residents of Antioch have been drinking from municipal well number 4 for the past several years without apparent incident. The main contaminant of concern is vinyl chloride, which was detected in low amounts. Vinyl chloride has not been detected in the well for the last 6 years, and the water met the State’s safe drinking water regulations. However, the well should be monitored regularly for evidence of further contamination and appropriate action taken in the event the contamination persists at levels above health-based standards. • Will there be additional sampling done of the public and private drinking water wells?
