Are there probs getting a Chinese tourist visa in Australia or UK with old drink-driving/speeding convictions?
Traffic offences are usually regarded as being Misdemeanors. Most countries don’t consider them to be serious offences. The question on the visa application is for more serious offences. In addition I would also suggest that it is very unlikely that you will do ANY driving of any vehicle in China. I can say that being on the roads here is nothing like it is back home. China does not recognise Driving Licenses from any country other than its own. Neither is it a signatory to the International Driving Permit system. So you wont be using a license and wont be asked about your driving habits. Your Tourist visa is an ‘L Class’, which means you can not apply for a license or hire a car etc. The only exception is if you are entering as a tourist specifically as part of an ‘organised escorted tour’ which involves the use of a rented bike or car. The tour agent would organise all visas and a temporary permit for you. Simply put, they wont ask and you wont need to tell.
