Are there prerequisites for entry into Chabots program?
No, there are no formal prerequisites. Chabot College will follow Cisco Networking Academy Guidelines, which state that the curriculum assumes no prior student knowledge of computers or networks. Nevertheless, it would be unusual for a student with absolutely no computer experience to develop an informed career interest in this field, and we expect most students will enter with certain basic skills, including the ability to perform basic keyboarding functions; perform basic operation of a desktop computer running the Windows operating system; operate a web browser proficiently; read and interpret coordinate graphs; understand powers of two; know and follow basic laboratory safety rules; handle and use basic tools safely; follow directions; and work effectively in a team.
