Are there powers to deal with noise nuisance?
Local authorities have been given power to implement a noise nuisance service in their area up to 24 hours a day and 7 days a week; 100 fixed penalty notices for noise; and more effective powers for local authority officers to seize noise making equipment. Noise powers come into force from December 2004 though local authorities must give 2 months notice before the powers can be used.
