Are you comfortable with the fact that such an ancient site will be lost? There were already problems with the preservation of the city even before the plans to build a dam. The ancient city has been crumbling. Nobody has been interested in protecting the town’s history until now. Even the newly built houses there lack any appeal. There are no facilities to host visitors in the area. The Ilısu project has been politicized. Some groups that do not want to upgrade the living standards of the people in the region are rising up against the project.
