Vacancies for trainee patent attorneys tend to crop up if and when the need arises. However, many firms find that they have more potential candidates if they seek to recruit towards the end of the academic year, as final year university students are approaching the ends of their courses. A number of firms hold interviews early in the academic year, for vacancies to be filled during the following autumn. In general it is often a good idea to register your interest as soon as you have decided to join the profession.
