In addition to what was orally presented to the Council at its public forum on partnership funding, CNRAC also received written correspondence. The following written comments were offered about the grants program, including the first comment that was made by two different entities. • The lack of funding for implementation of developed river conservation plans prevents the fulfillment of the intent of the program, which was to provide a tool to protect and restore the natural resources of the watersheds that the plans serve. • DCNR has no history of providing funding for passive abandoned mine discharge (AMD) treatment systems. If DCNR’s core mission is to protect and enhance Pennsylvania’s natural resources, then they should provide funding necessary to fulfill that mission. DCNR is urged to include AMD remediation as a significant priority in its upcoming rounds of grant funding.
