There are other formulations of buprenorphine used for the treatment of pain. Some earlier studies of buprenorphine maintenance and detoxification used these forms – most commonly an injectable formulation called Buprenex. However under current U.S. law, only Subutex and Suboxone may be used in opioid maintenance or detoxification.
