Are there negative side effects of living in space?
When someone is in space for a long time, their bones lose calcium and their muscles atrophy. Exercising in space can slow this degeneration but not prevent it. Astronauts who have spent months on a space station usually need to go through physical rehabilitation when they return to Earth and they usually feel weak and dizzy for a while. They also face an increased risk of cataracts, cancer and other health problems caused by radiation exposure.
