Are there national guidelines about anaphylaxis?
Yes, and they are found in a document titled Anaphylaxis in Schools & Other Settings (Lanaphylaxie lcole et dans dautres milieux). Released in January 2006, these guidelines were developed by the Canadian Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (CSACI) in collaboration with patient allergy associations and allied healthcare professionals. Their target audience is the lay community (i.e. non-medical people). The manual contains an updated Consensus Statement as well as numerous appendices with lots of valuable practical information. A website based on the guidelines is available at www.allergysafecommunities.ca (www.securite-allergie.ca). You can order the manual from these websites. If you belong to the OASG, contact Karen about participating in a group order.
