Are there many types of Qi Gong?
Depending on how we would define “types”, there are hundreds or thousands types of Qi Gong. Some people divide Qi Gong into two types: quiescent or internal and dynamic, or external. Some into three types: quiescent, dynamic, and quiescent- cum-dynamic. Others into four types: standing, sitting, lying down, and moving. Still others into five types: Buddhist, Taoist, Confucian, medical, and martial. There are various schools of Qi Gong, such as Shaolin Cosmos Qi Gong, Shaolin Damo Qi Gong, Tai Chi Eighteen Steps Qi Gong, Flying Crane Qi Gong, Fragrance Qi Gong, White Cloud Monastery Qi Gong and so on. Sometimes, people may refer to different Qi Gong techniques as different types of Qi Gong, in which case there are thousands of them.
