Are there many other Australians and other working travellers there?
Alex:There aren’t many travellers but the nightlife is still great – there are heaps of bars and clubs. WG: Have you done much travel since you have been here? Alex: I haven’t had much chance to go anywhere yet as I’ve only been here for two months, but Birmingham airport is not far away, and lots of cheap flights go from the airport at East Midlands. It is also really easy to travel around the UK from where I am – the trains are really simple to get and there are direct trains into London every hour if you want to go. WG: What is the work you do like? Alex: I am working in a small architecture firm so professionally I get to do a lot more than I would be doing if I was working in a larger practice in London. I get to be a lot more involved and see projects from the start to the finish. I’m doing concept design work six months out of uni, which I probably wouldn’t get to do if I worked at a larger firm in London. WG: So, what would you say to people considering living outside London? A
