Are there many jobs in the UK or is the jobless rate like the U.S?

Yes, the joblessness rate in the UK exceeds the number of available jobs. It was about 800,00 unemployed and about 500.00 vacancies last summer before the recession kicked in, and bearing in mind skill matching and geographical locations there were not jobs for everyone even then. With unemployment now hitting 2 million and about 18% of 18 – 24 year olds unemployed it does look pretty bleak at the moment and is probably similar to the US. Let’s hope our governments invest in some genuine job creation schemes soon.
