Currently in Victoria, forensic nurses are involved in the collection of blood according to the Road Traffic Act, the collection of biological specimens (ie DNA), custodial and psychiatric nursing roles. Enquiries regarding such should be made via email to debbieh@vifm.org The implementation of the Forensic Nurse Examiner Network in Victoria is progressing. Forensic nurses will have completed the Monash/VIFM Graduate Certificate of Nursing (Forensic) prior to providing the clinical services. This post-graduate course is designed to prepare nurses with the specialized knowledge and skills required to work competently in the area of sexual assault.
