Are there items for Aged Care Assessment Teams in RACFs, and if so – what is the best way to use them?

Assessments made by Aged Care Assessment Teams (ACATs) are already funded by the Australian Government. Medicare benefits are not payable where a service is rendered by or on behalf of, or under arrangement with the Australian Government, a State or Territory, a local government body or an authority established under Commonwealth, State or Territory law. Therefore, no Medicare item should be claimed in respect of these assessments. If there is a requirement for an ACAT assessor to be consulted after entry into a RACF, the RACF can contact the assessor and any advice provided will vary as appropriate to the circumstances.
