Are there items available for free under UK prescriptions?

0

Yes. Everything if you are on low income, state benefits, pregnant or within the first year following your child’s birth. If you do not qualify for free prescriptions there’s still loads of stuff you don’t pay for. The contraceptive pill for example. There’s something called the minor ailment scheme currently operating too which has opened up more products to people without the need for even a prescription. There is no ned to see a doctor to be sold or given the required medications. A chemist can prescribe them. The ailments treated are: Athletes Foot Cold & Flu Cold Sores Constipation Cough Cystitis Diarrhoea Earache Eye infections – Minor Hay Fever Head Lice Indigestion Insect Bites/Stings Minor Cuts and Burns Mouth Ulcers Nappy Rash Piles Sore Throat Sprains/Strains Sunburn Teething Temperature Threadworms Vaginal Thrush Verruca Warts To name a few.

Assume you mean items available on prescription for free … only contraceptive pills. However, you can get free prescriptions if you fall into one of the relevant categories. You can find these on www.nhs.uk or www.direct.gov.uk.
