Are there grants for buying a new home or to remodel an existing home?
Grants for buying or remodeling homes are very rare, unless the property will be used to provide shelter or housing for disabled, elderly, or impoverished children and families. However, there are local and state programs (not direct grants) available to help low-income families purchase their first homes. You should contact your local housing authority, HUD office, bank, or city/county commissioner’s office for information on the various housing programs available in your area.
