Are there grants and technical assistance available to help offset the cost of thinning the forest in and around communities, and other areas?

The USDA Forest Service invites you to carry out tree thinning and underbrush removal projects. For larger projects especially in areas around communities that are not on federal land, limited funds may be available from the Forest Service. Some of the many types of qualified organizations being invited to perform this work are Firesafe Councils, tribal organizations, local community groups, environmental organizations, local government, and small businesses.
