Yes, Canada has the following special government programs that assist certain foreign workers to obtain employment authorizations: 1) Software Workers: A special program recognizes the shortage of workers in seven software occupations: software development; MIS designer; software products developer; embedded systems software designer; senior animations effects editor; multi-media software developer; and telecommunication systems designer. 2) Spousal Employment Program: Traditionally, spouses of foreign workers could not work in Canada unless they independently qualified for their own work permit.
