Are there good word trivia sites on the Internet?
There are trivia sites, for sure, but none devoted to word trivia or which contain very much about words. Cool Quiz has a trivia section on Words and Numbers, a Vocabulary Builder, and a Word of the Day. Trivial Trivia has a short section on Language. Other sites with some word trivia items are: www.bathroomreader.com and Word Oddities and Trivia. Reader’s Digest has an online Word Power and Daily Crossword feature. Word Detective and Word Spy are informative about word origins. Other than that, the sites of major dictionary publishers offer lots of information besides the dictionaries – which may not qualify as trivia but would be of great interest to word lovers. There are also many sites where you can do word puzzles and take quizzes, like Wordplay and Wordplays.
