Are there free English language classes at MSU?
Yes! The Department of Linguistics & Languages Graduate Program in TESOL will offer a six-week conversational English language courses to persons in the Greater Lansing Area community this spring semester. There is a $15.00 materials fee per student, but otherwise the classes are free. Classes are held Tuesday and Thursday evenings 6:30-8:30 PM in Wells Hall, March 15 through April, 21 2011. You must come to the registration session on March 1 and fill out a registration form (no ID required) and take the placement test on March 3. What skills are covered? The class teaches speaking and listening. It does not cover reading, writing, SPEAK Test or TOEFL preparation, although there may be some reading at the higher levels. Who can enroll? Adults learning English as a second language at any level may enroll; you do not need to be a student at MSU or any other school. You do not need to be a US citizen. No ID is required.
