Are there fees for lifecycle events?
Not really. There are certain additional fees for a student becoming Bar or Bat Mitzvah – but these are for the added instruction with the Cantor before the event, and for the oneg which you will sponsor. The whole point of being a member of a congregation is to make sure that there is a community to help you mark your lifecycle events. Your membership ensures that this community will have clergy who are available when you need them. Many families do choose to make donations to Temple funds to mark such occasions.
