Are there equal opportunities for females as football referees?
P: Yes, everybody is in their own category so there’s a height that you can reach. I think the fitness test, that’s what’s killing them. Then there are other people who won’t do it (ref) because of the abuse, even the men. Q: What kind of support do you get from your peers? PR: Good, they give support. When I was just starting they taught me how to conduct myself, especially when you’re going for international tournaments. Everybody give their own piece, even the commissaries, they guide you along and even the other day some of them looked at me and said how come you’re putting on so much weight, so they keep you under pressure. Q: Do players take more chances to infringe on the rules more because you’re a woman? PR: Sometimes, but because they know me now so it’s kind of different. Almost all the time I’m on the line but with my experience I can ref games. Q: Are you capable of refereeing a Premier League game? PR: I can, but it’d be more challenging, it’d be a real test. But I don’t
