Are there enough women and people of color to make current job-candidate slates inclusive?
There is a deeper pool of talent than most people believe in terms of females and people of color. [The challenge is in] having the contacts and the networks to get to those people. Naturally, there are certain segments where talent is scarce or nonexistent. If you want to hire a derivatives attorney, talent is scarce and there may not be a lot of women and people of color in this area. But in most functional areas, like financial management, marketing or running a line division, enough females and people of color are available to fill assignments. It has been only in the last couple of decades where they have had the opportunity to get the exposure and training to take on these assignments. • What advice do you have for young professionals? Get exposure to people in organizations such as the National Association of Asian American Professionals or the Hispanic Association of Corporate Responsibility , so they would identify you as someone who is talented.
