Are there enough stem cells in cord blood for effective transplant treatment?
Your O&G will try to collect as much cord blood as possible for you in order to ensure a good stem cell count. The minimum storage at Ramak Biotech is set at 200 million stem cells. Doctors who do transplants cannot guarantee what is the minimum or maximum amount of stem cells needed for effective treatment, however, the general medical rule is to use 20 million cells per kilogram weight. Just remember, the more stem cells you infuse into the patient, the faster the engraftment of cells hence doctors are more inclined to use every single drop of your cord blood stored to ensure faster recovery.
