Are there different types of viruses?
These types of viruses are one of the early versions of viruses. They reside in the hard drive’s boot sector and run as soon as the system is booted. These are now rare, due to advances in the operating systems. In the days when DOS was the predominant operating system, these types of viruses were king. They were hard to detect and hard to remove. They were the precursor of the Root Kit viruses.
